You leave in the morning with everything you own in a little black case. Alone on a platform, the wind and the rain on a sad and lonely face. Mother will never understand why you had to leave But the answers you seek will never be found at home. The love that you need will never be found at home. Pushed around and kicked around, always a lonely boy. You were the one that they’d talk about around town as they put you down And as hard as they would try they’d hurt to make you cry. But you never cried to them, just to your soul. No, you never cried to them, just to your soul. You leave in the morning with everything you own in a little black case. Alone on a platform, the wind and the rain on a sad and lonely face. – Bronski Beat – Smalltown Boy (Official Video)
“Can’t believe this is over forty years ago. Great song and moving video”. David
I can’t believe I’ve never seen this video. Bronski Beat has always been one of my favourite groups, and this song is their best, in my opinion. I am weeping uncontrollably after watching this video – I see so many parallels in my life. I ran away at 16 after being ostracised by my family.
Thanks for sharing how it touched you.
It’s both a sad and a hopeful song – displacement, shaming, rejection, grief… and defiance, resilience, determination and strength.
I have to admit that I have actually blown him off twice!
There used to be a toilet on the South Bank of London near the Tate Modern gallery. Used to be open very early in the morning….anyway…he was a keen cyclist and wore these very tight Lycra cycling pants. His dick is a very nice size with good balls. The first time was just at the urinals and he gave a very big load. The next time I met him he again was on his bike and we went in the cubicle. Nice very hard thick dick took our time and again a massive load of thick cumm went down my throat. This must have been late 90s early 00s when he was at his peek. A friend of mine also mentioned that he had fun with him so was a frequent visitor to these loos.
Anyway the toilet block was locked up and is now part of a redevelopment.
David said it, really great!
Saw them live at “Heroes”(r.i.p) in Manchester just a few weeks before this hit the charts. Always been a fan!

Great song and moving video.
I was a small town boy and through caution to the wind, news travels too fast in a small town.
