I am attracted to the hypothesis that consciousness pervades everything, with each of us being a unique expression of that one consciousness. Traditional science would claim that consciousness is a product of the brain. In contrast, a spiritual understanding may be that universal consciousness uses our brains to flow through and expressive itself, rather like radio-waves flow through a radio receiver. As such, our minds, spirits and bodies are all an expression of universal consciousness or divinity. As a man, this understanding serves to sanctify my whole self, including my body and all its physical acts. Every sexual act can be experienced as a divine expression, even if the act is not particularly “holy” on the face of it. What is important are my intentions through the sexual act towards myself and, if relevant, my partner. And, of course, my intentions and deeds must be in line with my sense of right-action and well-being for self and others. Recalling this wider spiritual perspective helps me to appreciate my sexuality more deeply. In particular, I like to sense the consciousness flowing through me when I am enjoying slow and sensual time alone. As my awareness becomes heightened, the pleasure generated through my body grows stronger and my eventual orgasm is felt at a much deeper and meaningful level. HugH
