And as an American 15 year old who played rugby near Blandford Forum 63 years ago for the first and only time in his life I can tell you that my knuckles are still swollen from the chillblains I got on the late-afternoon, wintry, wind-swept pitches of Dorset, and I still think that rugby is God’s own game, the best game a man can play, bar none, on the planet.
