“Étude I: La Mort de Virgile” is a collaborative project inspired by Hermann Broch’s novel “The Death of Virgil.” Directed by André Atangana and François Rousseau, with choreography by André Atangana, the project interprets the novel’s themes through film direction and dance. The novel explores Virgil’s contemplation of life’s impermanence. The collaboration brings this introspection to life, using choreography to embody Virgil’s emotions and inquiries. The film direction weaves dance with visuals, inviting audiences into Virgil’s musings. Celebrating literature through interdisciplinary art, the project translates Broch’s concepts into movement and visuals. This immersive experience engages audiences with the novel’s depth and resonance. – François ROUSSEAU.
